A festschrift is a collection of essays that is given to a notable person (usually an author) for a special occasion. Phillip Davies is a biblical/archaeological scholar who has become notorious for his critical perspective on the Old Testament. He mostly asserts that the early parts are fiction–no need to believe in guys like Abraham, Moses, or David. In the spirit of his writing, his colleagues have given him this festschrift:

Speaking of Abraham, I love Jim Gaffigan’s remark on the Patriarch’s dedication, “My wife told me that Abraham was required to circumcise himself. Wow. I can’t even get to the bank before it closes.”

Lacey and I have commented numerous times how hillarious we think Gaffigan is, and how much his humor reminds us of you! His thoughts on Hot Pockets are probably our favorite.
