Is the NBA good?

As I begin this post 18 seconds remain in the Cavaliers-Heat game. A few comments:

  • LeBron probably shouldn’t have played. I think that he probably played on account of the Super Bowl being in town and the game being played on TNT.
  • The quality of basketball in the NBA is disgraceful. The Cavaliers do not have one American-born player who can hit a free throw. It just seems like those paid millions to play should be better than those who sit in their living rooms and watch. This is the case in every other sport right? You couldn’t pay me enough to step of a football field! But I do think that I could shoot over 65 percent from the free throw line.
  • All this being said-there are some great players in the NBA. But can you think of more than two/three very good teams? (Dallas, Phoenix, and Santonio)
  • Overall, I feel comfortable saying that while players are more athletic than ever, their aptitude, attitude, passion, and skills are lacking. I think the USA will continue to struggle at the international level until they begin insisting that no matter how athletic a player is- they will not play unless they demonstrate competence in the fundamentals.
Okay, enough rant. I am going to tune into Alton Brown and go to bed.
