Happy Groundhog Day!

Happy Groundhog Day! There is at least 2-3 inches of snow on the ground of the Bluff City this morning, which prompted school officials to cancel. Andrea was thrilled because she got to stay home and sleep in. I was thrilled because I got to use the car to get to work. I have never biked in snow. I think that the fact that it is Friday encouraged city and county school officials to cancel. I suppose this only leaves one major question: What happens to the home schoolers? While they have little reason not to have school, it seems unfair that they would have to learn when everyone else in the city watches Head of the Class and drinks hot chocolate all morning.
Surely this is not the greatest of the controversies that surround the idea of home-schooling, but it seems worth mentioning.

Just in case you were wondering, the Postal Service will be at work, unless they take off Groundhog Day. Which I think they might. I am checking on that right now.

  • BOB. That’s exactly what I was thinking. What kind of country is this that closeing down schools because of this enormous amount of the snow!

Bob, as a previous homeschooler I can speak to this. I think it is worth the trade off to miss snow days in order to be able to sleep till 9 every day.
